Flashing Neurons as Science Art

Posted By : Jami L. Milton | March 2, 2017

Check out this great blog post by Dr. Francis Collins highlighting Caitlin Vander Weele's research in Kay M. Tye’s MIT lab using our miniature microscope to show how neuronal activity in the medial prefrontal cortex changes as a function of behavior in real-time!

Caitlin was recently a winner in the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology’s BioArt contest in which her work was featured. This stunning video speaks to the importance of the public-private partnership between researchers, federal agencies, and the private sector in catalyzing scientific breakthroughs. It is one of the foundational principles of the BRAIN Initiative that Dr. Collins helped launch in 2013.

Congrats to Caitlin and Kay!
